April 21, 2011 Figure drawing session at Nyack Center post 2

Sketching at Nyack Center has been working out really well- a little more open than Hopper House, and while it does not quite have the charm of HH, it is functionally an excellent working space for us and has it's own beauty.
I find these drawing sessions so important; visual stretches. It helps keep a certain fluidity to my commercial work, and is a joyful place for me to work among other artists and be inspired by them.

More sketches from past figure drawing sessions

These sessions really help me as a court artist. Doing quick 2-minute poses, the 'visual sprints' help me to look for, and find, the essence of a pose. Trying to keep that fluidity while finishing the work is my ongoing goal.

Feb 10, 2011 sketches

Felt so good to draw last week. Our model was Sarah, who is excellent. I needed to be pushed on turns and foreshortening. Can never get enough practice!

Some more studies from last week- great model, Fred, and a good group that turned out on a cold snowy night!

2011 - new year, new studies

I realize most of my postings lately are the same model.. but this particular model, Tania, is excellent. I'll be posting regularly so there'll soon be more variety up here.
